Cat Canyon is approached from above, allowing you to look down at the animals' habitat. The better view is along the underground path, where they can be seen and photographed through nearly invisible mesh screening or glass.

After leaving the Desert Loop trail the surroundings change from a desert garden to the moist Riparian Corridor, followed by the rocky bighorn sheep habitat.
